Car blocking your exit? How to contact the owner
Look for a contact method the owner has provided, such as an active OUQM sticker. If there is none, ask building security or parking management for help. Do not try to move or enter someone else’s vehicle.
Start with the information the owner chose to share
You return to a car park in Muscat and another car is behind yours. Check for a parking contact card or an active OUQM sticker before trying to find the driver. A registration plate is not a public invitation to obtain the owner’s name, phone number or address. Avoid posting identifying photos of the vehicle online to crowdsource personal information.
If the vehicle has an OUQM sticker
The sticker must already be activated and linked to the owner’s account. A camera scan opens a browser page; the person scanning does not need an app or account.
- Check that the page is on ouqm.com before continuing.
- Choose the message that matches the situation, such as asking the owner to move the car.
- Send the alert, then use the secure confirmation page to see the owner’s reply.
- The owner opens the OUQM app to respond. You do not receive their phone number.
If there is no sticker or no reply
Ask the building reception, security desk or parking operator whether they can help reach the driver. Explain where the car is and which exit is blocked. Do not enter the vehicle, attempt to move it, or escalate a disagreement with the driver. OUQM cannot contact an unregistered car, and sending an alert does not guarantee that an owner sees it or replies.
When the problem is dangerous
A parking alert is not an emergency response. If someone appears to be in immediate danger, contact the relevant emergency service directly. Do not wait for an app notification or assume that a sent message has summoned assistance.
Plan for your own parked vehicle
Leaving a phone number on a windscreen makes that number visible to passers-by. An activated OUQM sticker provides a different contact route: someone can send a fixed vehicle alert while your account contact details stay private. Keep notifications enabled and check that the sticker is active. The owner app is being prepared for public release; see the current app and reservation pages before planning to use it.
Common questions
Can OUQM find an owner from a number plate?
No. OUQM connects a scanner with the account linked to an activated OUQM sticker. It does not offer public owner-name or phone-number lookups.
Does the person scanning need to download the app?
No. Scanning and checking a reply happen in the browser. The vehicle owner uses the OUQM app.
Will the owner reply immediately?
A reply is not guaranteed. The owner needs a working connection and access to their account. Use appropriate help directly if the situation is urgent.
